The shows variations in the
gravitational field from that expected of a smooth, homogeneous sphere. These deviations result
from a number of factors. Differences in elevation, crustal thickness and composition can cause
alterations in the strength of the gravitational force at a given location. The data were
obtained by NASA's GRACE mission.
